Arabic Translators/Cultural Mediators
Support Human Rights in Thessaloniki, Greece
PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMPACT
Our team aspires to empower individuals caught in an inefficient, ineffective, and unjust asylum system. Through information, we aim to improve asylum seeker's lives, promote their rights and dignity in refuge, and find viable solutions to the issues they face.
What sets us apart is our personal engagement with asylum seeking communities. We hold information sessions, make personal visits, talk over the phone, communicate through WhatsApp, and use social media to provide one-on-one assistance and general updates. This personal approach has resulted in the comprehensive delivery of reliable information, successful asylum and family reunification applications, and has won us trust and respect of the refugee community.
As part of our continuing expansion, we aim to utilize our unique position to identify key issues, suggest viable solutions, and advocate for reform and improvement of asylum systems.
Translators play a vital role in our team. We primarily work with asylum seekers and refugee who speak Arabic while the majority of our team are of western background.
We are seeking a full-time Experteer to commit to a minimum 3-month stay to act as our team's translator and cultural mediator with the refugee community.
