Description and Impact
Through the development, production, and commercialization of natural Amazonian health & beauty products, we seek to empower rural communities in the Peruvian Amazon by finding markets for products made from responsibly sourced Amazonian resources.
In 2017, our Amazonian SME participated in the Agora Partnerships Accelerator Program. During the four-month program, we made significant progress with our investment readiness documentation. However, one significant hurdle that still remains is that we need to complete the financial analysis.
This analysis is a prerequisite that potential investors will ask for in a standard due diligence process. For this reason, we need a financial experteer to help us synthesize and interpret our financial data and to convert it into the financial ratios requested by potentials investors. Once we clear this final hurdle, we are ready to launch our KIVA campaign.
The completion of this project will have a significant impact on our ability to fulfill our mission by getting funding at a fair rate. For context, in Peru, the credit terms for SMEs are very unfavorable- banks charge extremely high interest rates to first-time borrowers (up to 34% for SMEs). With the deliverables from this project, we will get access to softer credit conditions through the KIVA platform, which would allow us to financially restructure our current debt and enable us to continue our expansion phase on healthier financial terms. In this phase, we intend to grow our production capacity as well as our socio-environmental impact here in the Peruvian jungle.
Deliverables
Agora Partnerships provided us with a Financial Model Template. Over the last few months, we have gathered the raw data from the financial years 2015-2017, and now we need to convert this raw data into this Financial Model Template to be able to deliver the financial ratios necessary for the KIVA campaign. These ratios include Liquidity, Solvency, Equity/Debt, Protifablity, etc.
We have all of the data uploaded in a G-Drive document ready to be processed, and the selected Experteer's role would be to train our staff in how to convert this raw data into financial ratios so that we and potentials investors can get a better idea of the financial performance of our social enterprise.
Other requirements
Our ideal candidate is someone with financial expertise who can teach us in a hands-on way how to maintain financial order in our SME moving forward. Ideally, this project will result in both the calculation of the necessary ratios as well as the up-skilling of our existing staff.
Considering that our financial and accounting data is all in Spanish, basic to advanced understanding of this language would be beneficial. However, the GM speaks English and Spanish so we could work around the language barrier if the selected candidate has only basic Spanish or very limited Spanish.
We would love to work with someone who is aligned with our social mission (Reforestation and Biodiversity rehabilitation in the Amazon, combined with gender equity and economic inclusion of indigenous women and communities).
We are open to working with a virtual experteer, and are also open to discussing terms with anyone who would like to come down and get their hands dirty tagging along with us here in Peru!
