Description and Impact

We are looking for a fundraising professional to help design and execute a fundraising for building classrooms and workshops facilities to be implemented at Bambui, Bamenda–Cameroon. Due to the lack of adequate classrooms trainee’s access to quality education is hampered. Also, a lack of workshop facilities affects the acquisition of skills for employability and life work of the whole municipality. The fundraising campaign, execution, and implementation will raise funds for the construction of classrooms and workshops using land we bought some time ago, approximately 400m2 to build a new campus to accompany up to 500 trainees as our current premises does not allow more than 40-50 trainees at a time.

This will create private sector jobs and further developing our community with a strong educational institute educating the youth with practical real live technological knowledge to improve their employability and teaching the next generation of entrepreneurs in our unique entrepreneurship department.

Why this is the right time to do it:

There is an increasing demand for Vocational Training in our municipality

There is a strong migration trend into the area due to the creation in 2010 of t he University of Bamenda in Bambili. Our municipality is commonly known as the center of education in the whole region and education is a top priority for the people of the 2 English regions who mostly come to acquire it here. There is increase of other industrial activities warranting a demand for highly trained professionals. Applicants to our programs have been turned down due to lack of classrooms and workshops. The teacher strike in 2016 in the English Speaking regions of our country was a result of the poor educational system whereas we take pride in excellent curricula and highly trained teachers - as recognized by the African Union Commission. The over all usage of computers, ”smart” devices and the internet is increasing yet still has a huge growth potential creating further demand and employment potential for students of ICT based vocational training institutes.

Building classrooms and workshops facilities will help to ensure quality and sustainable access to education for young people and the entire municipality.

We have a strategy document for the project and photos so the experteer is expected to join our team in grant proposal writing and fundraising campaigns.

This work requires good strategic fundraising skills, basic crowdfunding skills, computer skills, strong story writing and social media skills. The experteer should expect to spend time in the office at our current premises, school and the field.

The Experteer will be expected to join our team in resource mobilisation to raise funds for the classrooms and workshops facilities. We will know that the experteering project is complete once we have the required funds for classroooms and workshops.
