In the fall of 2021, World Relief Spokane had a PR crisis with devastating effects on our donor base. We went from 750 donors down to 350, and our annual giving went from close to 1 million down to 400k. Many of the people we lost were among our top givers. A number of factors attributed to this in addition to the PR crisis -- the COVID years were good for non-profit giving; the fall of Afghanistan in 2021 brought in one-time gifts; and there were several other factors. The attrition continued throughout 2022. 2023 was a year of recovery, mending what fences we could and building new relationships, but we need help to regain a robust position with regard to our fundraising and major donor efforts.
