Project Description and Impact

Mentoralia is the civil association that trains and supports a large community of volunteers who make the Technovation Girls program possible in Mexico, in collaboration with the non-profit organization Technovation. It involves educational institutions and high-tech companies to create a special experience of approaching information technologies for young Mexican women.

Given an employment scenario of less than 30% of women who work in a STEM career, according to UNESCO data, it is necessary to promote the development of technological skills for women. Doing so from an early age fosters interest and confidence to develop in a related career, increasing the representation of women in technology jobs with better economic remuneration.

Carrying out these projects with a social focus also motivates girls to get involved in conflict resolution, developing soft skills to actively participate in their environments.

We need help to be able to teach programming workshops to girls from 8 to 18 years old, using tools such as Scratch, Thunkable and Mit App Inventor
