A guide to your participation in the Volunteer Sprint Program
Launched by F5 in partnership with MovingWorlds, the Volunteer Sprint Program is an opportunity for F5 nonprofit grantees to receive pro-bono capacity building support from highly skilled F5 employees.
By combining the functionality of the MovingWorlds platform with the time, skills, and dedication of F5 employees, the new Volunteer Sprint program makes it easy for your nonprofit to connect with F5 subject-matter experts in fields like IT, Cybersecurity, Marketing, Finance, Legal, HR, Strategy, Project Management, Fundraising, Leadership, and more.
As a nonprofit participant in this program, you are eligible to receive up to two weeks of skills-based virtual support between March and September 2025.
Waves are time-bound participation periods. By committing a certain number of nonprofits and F5 employees per wave, the MovingWorlds team will be able to ensure that each project has an employee match.
Nonprofit partners can opt into one of two participation waves:

Exchange messages and have scoping calls with potential F5 employee volunteers to find the right match for your needs. The MovingWorlds team will also be available to provide any extra support or guidance you may need in finding the right F5 employee to match with.
Participants in Wave 5 will complete their projects with their selected F5 employee volunteer from March 20th - June 30th.
Participants in Wave 6 will complete their projects with their selected F5 employee volunteer from June 18th - September 30th.
When your project ends, MovingWorlds will send you a survey to share your feedback about the experience and impact created. You'll also be invited to share the story of your experience for a potential feature on the MovingWorlds blog!
If you are not able to participate in Wave 5, you can still participate in Wave 6 which will take place between June 18 - September 30. We encourage you to still register now, and you will be contacted later on to add in your Wave 6 project details.
F5 is seeking out projects from nonprofit organizations that have previously received STEM Education, Tech for Good, and/or Community Impact grants from F5 in order to invest further and deepen its partnership with these impactful organizations.
No. We encourage you to source Volunteer Sprint projects from across your organization. You are not limited to projects which were previously supported through our grants.
No, nonprofits are welcome to submit multiple projects that they could use support with.
Yes. A recording of the kickoff calls will be sent to all participating organizations afterwards, regardless of whether they were able to attend the session live.
F5 is open to all kinds of projects to fulfill its nonprofit partners’ needs. The only limiting criteria is that the project be completed by an F5 employee virtually, not in person.
Because F5 employees will volunteer virtually, we expect there will be very few geographic restrictions for the Volunteer Sprint. However, F5 is restricted from partnering on projects located in countries and regions that have applicable U.S. embargoes or sanctions.
All F5 employees will volunteer virtually for their projects. However, we will also make sure time zones and language are not barriers to your project’s completion with our volunteers.
No. We are trying to make the Volunteer Sprint as widely accessible to our employees as possible. We intend to seek out in-person projects in the future.

If your project has specific needs that are not
covered here, please let MovingWorlds know and
they will do their best to find a match for you
from among F5 volunteers or suitable employees
from other companies participating in volunteer
programs on their platform.
Up to 75 F5 employees will be participating in the Volunteer Sprint Program in 2025.
The F5 volunteers will represent a cross-section of F5 at a variety of levels, from a diverse mix of roles and responsibilities. If your project requires a certain level or role, please flag for MovingWorlds during project registration and we will make every effort to match your project with an F5 employee that has the skills and experience you need.
Nonprofits will register their project and F5 employee volunteers will register their skills on the Moving World platform. Employees will be encouraged to proactively search out projects that match their skill set and contact nonprofits to see if they are a match. MovingWorlds staff will also help step in and match projects and volunteers if there are signs nonprofits or employees are not connecting or haven't yet found a match.
Yes. On the MovingWorlds platform, nonprofits are welcome to request introductions to employees whose skills match their project. As with all projects for the Volunteer Sprint, the decision to work together will be mutual between the nonprofit and the F5 employee.
We will make every effort to find an F5 employee with the skills you need. If none of our volunteers’ skills are relevant to your project, MovingWorlds will introduce nonprofits to suitable employees from other companies participating in volunteer programs on their platform.
We will make every effort to match your project with an F5 employee that has the skills you need for two weeks of dedicated support.
Employees will have two weeks (or 10 business days) dedicated to completing their Volunteer Sprint. We prefer that employees complete their Volunteer Sprint in two consecutive weeks; however we understand there may be some exceptions where that is impossible (for example, an employee is ill or an event date related to the project is postponed). MovingWorlds will help support these exceptions with employees and nonprofits on a case-by-case basis.
We sincerely hope this will not occur – but we understand sometimes there can be unforeseen circumstances or we may not create the right match between employee and nonprofit. In that case, MovingWorlds will help resolve or reassign projects to ensure that the nonprofit’s project is completed with a different F5 volunteer or will introduce the nonprofit to suitable employees from other companies participating in volunteer programs on their platform.
On March 4 & 5, F5 will host kick-off calls for participating nonprofits where we will outline the preparation needed to match projects to volunteers on the MovingWorlds platform. Throughout the Volunteer Sprint, MovingWorlds will also be available to support our nonprofit partners and ensure they have the best experience with F5 employee volunteers.
F5 and MovingWorlds will require onboarding training to be completed by every employee before their Volunteer Sprint begins. The topics covered will include how to use the MovingWorlds platform to discover projects and connect with nonprofits, as well as best practices to help ensure employees and nonprofits alike have a great experience during their Volunteer Sprint.
Please plan to attend F5’s kick-off call for participating nonprofits where we will outline the preparation needed to match projects to volunteers on the MovingWorlds platform. In addition, we ask that nonprofits’ prepare a plan or schedule of deliverables for the project so that an F5 employee is clear on your expectations of support from day one.
Yes. Nonprofit organizations will need to ensure that the project can be completed virtually and are prepared to onboard employees to the project, introduce them to relevant colleagues, train them on necessary systems, manage their priorities, respond to questions, and offboard at the conclusion of the project. Additionally, prior to your employee volunteer starting both entities (nonprofit and volunteer) need to complete the Experteering Guide, which is a guide that will ensure expectations are aligned.
No. Our focus is on providing two weeks (or 10 business days) per employee to dedicate to your project. You can list multiple projects on the MovingWorlds platform to ensure you have support in all the areas where you need it. If the project is extensive and additional support is needed beyond two weeks, we suggest requesting multiple employees to work on your project. You can contact the MovingWorlds team to help with this.
There is a brief survey to complete at the end of each employee’s Volunteer Sprint with your organization to ensure your organization’s needs were met. You may also be contacted by the F5 Marketing team or the MovingWorlds team to see if you would be willing for F5 or MovingWorlds to publicly share your nonprofit’s experience with the Volunteer Sprint.
Yes. We are allocating the same rate we use for employee volunteer time matching at $15USD/hour. For every F5 employee that volunteers 80 hours to a Volunteer Sprint project, F5 will donate $1200USD to the participating nonprofit. This donation will be disbursed, via Benevity, the following quarter from when the employee completed the Volunteer Sprint project. For nonprofit organizations that are not currently registered on Benevity, it is the responsibility of the nonprofit to complete this registration prior to the start of the Volunteer Sprint. F5 can assist in getting your organization started in this process.
No. Applications for F5’s upcoming grant programs will be evaluated independently of a nonprofit’s participation in the Volunteer Sprint program.
