Measuring impact is hard, but we consider it vital to scaling and improving our work.
In addition to tracking volume, we track other indicators of long-term impact for our Experteers, organizations, corporate partners, and other capacity-building partners (like impact investors). We also share research, insights, and guides available to everyone on our resources page.
Our work to ensure that skilled volunteers land with impact has been featured in the Stanford Social Innovation Review. We continue to improve our measurement, reporting frequency, and transparency. In the near future, this impact report will be living—meaning that it will automatically update with live data every month.
If you have comments or questions, we hope you'll let us know!
Our two-sided mission is simple:
Since we began our work in 2011, our founding rational has become more important every year: A lack of human capital continues to be one of the leading barriers to progress.
Increasingly, locally-led organizations remain essential to solving the greatest challenges of our time, and yet they are becoming more and more resource-starved.
Organizations stuck in this "pioneer gap" are in need of support, and the donation of human capital and expertise helps solve specific challenges, transfers skills, and creates global connections that help local teams accelerate their impact and create local jobs.
Go to the people. Live with them. Learn from them. Love them. Start with what they know. Build with what they have. But with the best leaders, when the work is done, the task accomplished, the people will say 'We have done this ourselves'.
