Social Impact Project for Videographer Needed to Support Mentally Challenged Children
Project Description and Impact
The project is all about resurrecting well beings of children with special needs from secluded communities in Bodhgaya region of northern India. Bodhi Tree Special school brings attitudinal and behavioural changes across communities in term of approaches and practices. The school has enrolled about 50 children with special needs and employes special Educators, psychologist, and clinicians to meet their needs. It also ensures nutritional security of these children apart from therapies and a matrix of interventions.
The project is equally concerned about the children and teens with special needs in both genders, and aims to impart a better psychological understanding for the parents as well to better understand the challenges their children are experiencing. There is a knowledge gap for parents because in the rural communities the understanding of mental illness is based in superstition and stereotypes. That's why it is imperative that the school also educates the parents and show them that through training and therapies these children may be included in mainstream communities of children, rather than being rejected and isolated. A videographer may impact our ability to fulfill this mission by helping us share the stories of these special children.
By participating in the MovingWorlds Institute, you will first learn social impact frameworks and human-centered design before putting your existing skills and new knowledge to action.
