Social Impact Project for Sewing Skills Training to Help Women Earn Sustainable Income

How This Works

In the MovingWorlds Institute Global Fellowship, you will learn how to advance your for-good career while getting hands on experience on projects like this one.

Project Description and Impact

We aim to train women from low-income backgrounds to sew hand-made gifts and fashion accessories made from a traditional Malaysian fabric called batik. While we take enormous pride in the high-quality hand-made fashion, gifts and home goods that their artisans create, people matter most. We believe women deserve a fair and sustainable income, and the ability to provide for themselves and their families.  Today we employ more than 50 artisans, giving them skills training and sustainable, accessible income opportunities and helping meet other community needs.

We are seeking someone to help our seamstresses grow in skills at our sewing training center by training simple, intermediate and advanced sewing techniques.

Dates are flexible.
