Social Impact Project for Project Manager for education and healthcare programmes in Ghana

How This Works

In the MovingWorlds Institute Global Fellowship, you will learn how to advance your for-good career while getting hands on experience on projects like this one.

Project Description and Impact

We work in Ghana to provide impoverished, orphaned and street children with Education and healthcare.
In general we need volunteers to help with teaching in one of our partner schools (any subject of your preferred choice),  Holding HIV/Aids awareness talks etc. These are only a few examples of the things you could be doing here in Ghana and we are willing to accommodate you with any skills you may have. If you have an idea in which area you would like to volunteer you can also let us know and we will see if such an opportunity is available. However, specifically we are looking for experteers interested in supporting us with larger one-off events. We require a Project Manager to take into account all aspects of such one off events, e.g. fundraising, communication and logistics.

Learning Opportunity

By participating in the MovingWorlds Institute, you will first learn social impact frameworks and human-centered design before putting your existing skills and new knowledge to action. In addition, this organization will expose you to new things, like:

They can learn about the local culture and the way of life. Depending on the area of their location they could also learn from local teachers and health expects. They will also learn about how an NGO is run and managed here in Ghana.

Accommodation

In a host family, you will be assigned to your own/shared bedroom with a lock, flush toilets and bath in most of the towns. In the rural areas, you will have to manage with a pit toilet & bath. You will not always have running water but there will be clean washing water to bath and shower in. A mosquito net can be quite helpful. You will be living in a host family house and become a member of that family, which gives you the opportunity to learn their culture, learn a new language, and virtually do everything with them. Host families are carefully selected and are very caring and friendly.

If you are living in the volunteer house, you will be sharing a room with other volunteers. The volunteer house often has up to ten volunteers, so it can be quite fun as you get to know your roommates. The house has showers and flush toilets. You can also let us know the type of accommodation you prefer and we will help you get it if you send us advance notice.

Food Stipend

As many volunteers are out during the day and like to eat their own food for lunch and dinner, we have decided to only provide breakfast. The breakfast menu is quite varied. We can provide bread, eggs, pancakes, french toast, fruit etc. and coffee, hot chocolate or tea. If other meals are required, this can be discussed on an individual basis.

Additional Benefits

Pre-Depature handbook that contains more about what to prepare before arrival and Certificate after placement with us here in Ghana. We can also provide a reference for you if required. For those interested we can also provide twi lesson which is one of the  major local language here in Ghana.
