Social Impact Project for Marketing / Brand Strategist to Empower Refugees

How This Works

In the MovingWorlds Institute Global Fellowship, you will learn how to advance your for-good career while getting hands on experience on projects like this one.

Project Description and Impact

We are a social enterprise working to empower people affected by conflict and migration by connecting refugee artisans to the global market, ultimately creating new opportunities and financial security. To achieve this, we use a process of co-creation to develop products that combine both traditional skills and modern design elements.

As we grow and seek to increase our impact, we are in need of an epic marketing strategy to drive brand awareness and revenue on a global scale. We are located in our Jungle Villa on the Thailand / Burma border, and you are welcome to join us on-location, as a remote team member, or a combination of these two options.

Learning Opportunity

By participating in the MovingWorlds Institute, you will first learn social impact frameworks and human-centered design before putting your existing skills and new knowledge to action. In addition, this organization will expose you to new things, like:

If you choose, you are welcome to immerse yourself in our full program of 'co-creating with communities.' It is a new and innovative way of working which is very different from our current global humanitarian aid model. We've received international attention for creating this model, and now we teach it to others.

It begins with a focus on the connection with self, the connection with the environment, and the deconstruction of our paradigms before we begin to co-create with communities.

We are confident and optimistic that the selected Experteer will be able to walk away from this experience with a thorough knowledge of working with communities in the social impact sector, as well as hands-on experience doing so (often people walk away on a new career path which combines their existing skills with their new ones).

Accommodation

We live in the Jungle Villa, where you will have a private bedroom and bathroom, as well as access to a shared fully-equipped kitchen. The Villa is a large, open-air, tropical home situated on a river and surrounded by fruit trees. We have an epic co-working space for easy collaboration, as well as private spaces if you need to dive into deep focus. We also have fiber optic internet!

We are situated in a small Jungly village with access on foot to several small shops, and for anything else you need we are a quick bicycle ride into the neighboring small town.

If you're interested, there is also always the opportunity to spend time / overnights in the remote communities that we work with for a more immersive experience.

Additional Benefits

For now this is a 'remote work' opportunity. However, you are forever welcome to come and spend time with us in the Jungle!

The opportunities for cultural immersion are endless! Learn bamboo work, weaving, language, cooking, jewelry-making, and other crafts from the local artisans in the communities we work with. This is also a gerat opportunity to learn more about social enterprises from the inside, including our model of 'co-creating with communities' and opportunity to share your own skills.

Even everyday-living is a unique experience here, with local markets, waterfalls, hikes, etc. right at your fingertips.

We live in a large and unique space where we are often doing yoga, meditation, dancing, hiking, swimming...and of course working!
