NLS Medical Waste
The company started its activities in 2009: collecting and disposing the medical waste from hospitals and health centers. Before medical and hazardous waste was being dumped in swamps which would lead to environmental pollution. Currently, the company services 11 large hospitals and 400 smaller clients in Kampala. The company owns an incinerator that disposes 130kg of waste per hour. Since the market in Kampala seems nearly saturated, the company is now exploring new growth opportunities, either by expanding the services it offers to the hospitals and health services, e.g. by offering cleaning services, or by expanding its geographical scope to towns outside Kampala or by entering the domestic waste market.
