The Mental Health Service Users’ Association (MHSUA) is an association of mental health care users in Ethiopia, founded and run by people with mental health lived experience. The key issues that the MHSUA seeks to address are to increase community awareness about mental health, reduce stigma and support people with lived experience to live in dignity, empower service users and their families to be their own advocates in the development and improvement of mental health care.

As a collective voice for service users in Ethiopia, MHSUA advocates for the rights of service users and parity with physical health. MHSUA fights stigma and discrimination through awareness raising activities championing lived experience narratives. We empower service users through a weekly peer support programs. We debunk myths against mental health through comprehensive trainings. We collaborate with research institutions for a practical and policy relevant researches on mental health.
