South Sudanese Women In Medicine (SSWIM)

A Non-profit

Organization Details

South Sudanese Women in Medicine (SSWIM) is a membership-based non-profit uniting South Sudanese women medical doctors, pharmacists, and dentists to transform the nation’s health landscape. We amplify the voices and leadership of medical women in driving equitable access to quality healthcare, especially for women, adolescents, children, and those needing mental health services. Through healthcare services, advocacy, mentorship, and professional development, we champion health equity, elevate careers, influence policy, protect professional rights, and foster powerful networks of medical women. In a country facing fragile systems and inequality, we place medical women at the heart of health transformation as healers, advocates, and innovators.

Impact Story

SSWIM exists to elevate and empower South Sudanese women medical professionals; doctors, pharmacists, and dentists, so they can lead the transformation of healthcare in our nation. Through initiatives like our Career Boost Hub, we deliver targeted mentorship, upskilling, and career pathway opportunities that strengthen women's capacities and confidence in health leadership. We partner with the Ministry of Health and global stakeholders to shape health policy and demand generation for critical vaccines, advancing system-level improvements for service delivery . By creating spaces where medical women are visible, supported, and influential, SSWIM bolsters health equity, professional growth, and sustainable health outcomes across South Sudan while spurring geneder equality in human resources for health.
