Lets Save The Strays International LLC
Organization Details
Let’s Save The Strays International (LSTSI) is a U.S.-based nonprofit committed to improving animal and public health in Myanmar through high-volume, high-quality TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) programs. We are the only organization focused solely on humane stray animal population control and rabies prevention in the country.
Founded by a veterinarian and run by an all-local team in Myanmar, we’ve treated over 30,000 animals to date—reducing suffering, preventing disease, and promoting peaceful coexistence between people and street animals. Our work is grounded in a One Health approach, with a strong focus on mentoring local veterinary students and building long-term, community-led solutions.
Impact Story
Our Impact Story
In a country devastated by civil war, where international aid is scarce and animals are often overlooked, Let’s Save The Strays International (LSTSI) is a lifeline. We are the only animal welfare nonprofit operating exclusively in Myanmar, where over 5,000 children die each year from rabies — a disease spread almost entirely by unvaccinated street dogs.
Since our founding in 2017, our locally led veterinary teams have treated over 30,000 animals through high-quality TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) programs. Every dog or cat we sterilize and vaccinate not only reduces future suffering, but also breaks the chain of disease transmission — making entire communities safer.
During the March 2025 earthquake in Mandalay, our team pivoted immediately. With no functioning clinic, they set up a field hospital outdoors and treated hundreds of injured and heat-stressed animals, while also delivering food and clean water to community feeders who care for the strays.
But our impact isn’t just in numbers. It’s in the stories of dogs like Danu, a street dog once seen as a threat, now neutered, vaccinated, and cared for by her neighborhood. Or the young Burmese vet students we mentor, who gain hands-on experience and become leaders in humane animal care.
Our model is sustainable, scalable, and deeply rooted in community trust. We don’t fly in to provide short-term aid. We build lasting local capacity to protect animals, prevent disease, and create a future where street dogs are seen not as problems — but as protectable lives.
