Organization Details
Cool Earth financially supports people living in remote rainforest in Peru,
Cameroon and Papua New Guinea, where infrastructure is minimal and
conditions vary from forest to forest. When the cash we provide local
communities with is paired with traditional knowledge it funds radical
rainforest protection solutions mitigating climate breakdown, be it bee-keeping, fish farming, cacao production, solar panel installation, coconut crops or satellite information.
The key is to invest complete trust in the people to do the right thing with
our loyal donors’ funding.
Impact Story
Cool Earth’s job is to fight the climate crisis by keeping rainforest intact. Marginalized Indigenous people and local communities are the critical stewards of some of the world’s most vital ecosystems. They are the rainforests' best guardians, having lived there for generations.
Since 2007 Cool Earth has delivered $41,000,000 to 103,000 rainforest communities across 2.1 million acres, storing 500,000 tonnes of carbon, supporting the livelihoods of these rainforest people to help mitigate climate breakdown. We are the only conservation organization providing unconditional funding to people living in the forest. Now protecting 380,000,000 trees, the impact that CE has had on the planet's wider health is that deforestation is 82% lower within CE’s Papua New Guinea partnership and 46% lower in its Peruvian partnership than in areas outside. 99% of rainforest in CE's partnerships is intact.
