KARAKAYA TALKS ist a media organization that produces news and talkshows for German-speaking Gen Zs and Millennials of color. On the industry side it furthermore organizes the BIPOC MEDIA FEST, a networking and workshop-event for BIPOC mediamakers from film, journalism and creator economy to discuss solution-based levers for a just media future.
Impact Story
KARAKAYA TALKS addresses Germany's exclusive and elitist journalism, despite 27% of the population being of color. This disparity perpetuates a top-down, paternalistic media landscape, leaving BIPOC communities feeling unseen and unrepresented. The consequence is a significant lack of trust in journalism, creating a breeding ground for misinformation, disinformation, and alienation. Most critically, this situation contributes to democratic decay, emphasizing the urgent need for change.
