Baltimore Community Lending
Baltimore Community Lending provides loan capital to small real estate developers and small business owners in Baltimore City who have no relationship with or are unable to get a loan from a bank, and who are committed to developing underserved neighborhoods. We work with the government, foundations, financial institutions, community stakeholders, anchor institutions, and small business owners early in the planning process to provide small-to-mid size capital solutions leading to a more diverse and economically balanced Baltimore.
Our mission is to support the revitalization and strengthening of underserved Baltimore neighborhoods through innovative and flexible financial assistance designed to promote community development. Working in Baltimore City exclusively, BCL seeks to understand the needs of each neighborhood, with a priority on economic development and entrepreneurship partnerships with organizations in East Baltimore, West Baltimore, Southwest Baltimore and Central Baltimore.
We are well-positioned for small- and midscale community-driven real estate revitalization efforts that need the right size solution, particularly those surrounding anchor institutions such as universities, landmarks, and hospitals, middle neighborhoods and commercial corridors. We have financed 4,179 housing units since 1989 through a $186.7 million investment, and have made 22 business loans since 2018 through a $1.3 million investment.
