Description and Impact

Many child-victims of sexual violence in Bolivia become economically dependent on their aggressors, which makes it difficult for these children to move forward and take control of their lives. That’s why we would like help in teaching child survivors about the importance of saving and how to work toward financial independence. This includes hosting micro-entrepreneurial workshops and helping the survivors brand their products and develop marketing strategies for their businesses. Volunteers will host workshops about developing financial independence and will work specifically with survivors to brand the hair salon, textiles department, and the bakery.

We're seeking an Experteer with a background in entrepreneurship and branding to:

  • Organize and lead business planning workships
  • Mentor the participants as they design their on "brand"

Deliverables

By the end of the two-week project, the survivors will have gained self-confidence and have some tools to begin working toward economic independence. Each girl who operates her own small business, or who is part of the foundation business, will have constructed a business plan, and designed a “brand” for her products/services with the volunteers.

Other requirements

Our ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a strong interest in gender equality and prior experience working with branding, marketing, accounting, business planning, or communication.

Other important requirements include willingness to work with children and youth who've suffered trauma and a commitment to helping these children enjoy the process of learning. Willingness and a big heart go a long way!
