PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMPACT
The mission of our organization is to support select primary and secondary schools in Tanzania through fundraising and educational enrichment opportunities for students and teachers.
We are looking for Experteers to come to Tumaini for at least 2 months beginning in July or after. Dates are flexible. Experteers will be responsible for teaching one or two sports to teams at Tumaini after school and on Saturdays.
Prospective Experteers must have experience working with children or teenagers as well as significant athletic experience. Travel experience, especially in developing areas, is an asset. Experteers will be expected to work closely with East African teachers, to follow school rules that may be unfamiliar, and to defer to school administration. This position also allows for a lot of flexibility and initiative on the part of the Experteers you will be expected to develop your own coaching program with noticeable end results. Experteers are also expected to follow a code of conduct in order to represent the organization, school, and their own country well.
Currently, our sports programs are underdeveloped - students come for practice when they are available; teachers do their best but have little coaching experience. Practices are mostly about physical exercise but not about specific skills. We are looking for Experteers to establish a concrete schedule, space, and roster for sports that continue after they depart. They should create a strong foundation for training that can also be continued, and should provide training to relevant teachers so that they are able to lead on their own. We expect this to result in increased wins in upcoming sports competitions.

We Provide These Local Benefits
We are able to provide room and board, laundry and cleaning services for $100 USD/week. This is a shared house in close proximity to staff and about a 15-minute walk from the primary school. It is in a quiet area with security guards.
Tumaini schools are very high functioning in an area where the educational system is largely failing. With the exception of two TEC staff members, all staff are East African. This is an opportunity to learn best practices, created by and for the community, and to see them in action.
We are able to provide cultural and language support and assistance in travel around Tanzania and Africa. We are happy to help with arrangements for safaris, travel to Zanzibar, flights etc. We will also arrange all immigration documents needed in Tanzania.
