Description and Impact
We are a diverse and collaborative, volunteer-based group, coordinating volunteer-powered projects to support education, health & hygiene, creative expression and community. Volunteers of any nationality, religious or ethnic background are welcome to participate. We work together to reinforce basic academic skills while enhancing the development of leadership skills, critical thinking & decision-making capabilities.
We seek an Experteer with strong visual and writing skills and a familiarity with social media platforms. We have some excellent materials to work from but we need updating, fresh design, and some reorganization. Either virtual or on-site assistance is fine! Organize our website, social media, volunteer recruitment materials, newsletter template and crowd-sourcing fundraisers.
This project will be a success if our volunteer recruitment materials are updated, organized and have a coherent flow. We're already doing a good job of recruiting volunteers but we need to simplify our processes. If you can help us make our materials and posts simple and beautiful and ready for our directors and in-country staff to manage easily, your work will be a success!
Additional Useful Skills
We Provide These Local Benefits
- Living Stipend
- Learning Opportunity
- Good For Families
Our short term volunteers usually have to pay a fee, but for our Experteer it will be waived.
The Experteer will receive free housing and a living stipend of 500 HNL (about $24 USD) per week. Food is inexpensive in Honduras and this will cover a large percentage of your food needs.
We are a very "hands on" program. Our volunteers are involved in the implementation of all aspects of the programs for children. The Experteer will learn about non-profit operations, challenges of operating in a developing country and about living in true community. Our village is very friendly but extremely poor. Our volunteers interact daily with children and families living in extreme poverty and are often amazed at how, even with so little, people are still willing to share. In addition, our community is surrounded by pineapple fields and so living in our village is also a lesson in corporate farming and how workers subsist on low wages and irregular work schedules.
In addition to hands on experience and a great support network, we will gladly provide enthusiastic letters of recommendation! If you're able to stay for 4 months or longer, we would be willing to speak about having you in a management role as well.
This project accepts applications for virtual experteers.
