Project Details

Description and Impact

We have a very lengthy and human intensive manufacturing process that poses a major constraint to scale up our production capabilities as well as our quality controls of finished product. We are looking to improve our current process so that we can increase production and manage inventory more efficiently. Currently, we provide our weavers the yarn to hand-weave each hammocks from their homes and then collect the finished product upon completion. We then transport the finished product to our warehouse in Merida and submit each hammock to quality controls at our warehouse.

Establish a more efficient manufacturing and inventory management system for our hand-woven hammocks that would allow us to scale up production, become more efficient in our quality control practices and improve our inventory management.
