Support Economic Empowerment in Managua, Nicaragua
PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMPACT
We have spent the last few years perfecting our model. In 2016, we began to really scale our operations, doubling the size of micro-franchises we have in business. Now that we are seeing great results and feel confident about our business plan, we must grow our donor database to continue to do this work and help more families work their way out of poverty. We have over 500 applicants who want the opportunity to be a franchise owner. At 250 stores, our first micro-franchise, Mercado Fresco, will be at capacity and we will need to have developed new micro-franchises to offer to the other applicants. In 2017, we also will start planning expansion into other countries, like Guatemala.
This is where you come in! We are hoping to hire a full-time development person soon, but have not been able to find one yet and desperately need some help in this area. We are looking for someone who would like to meet with possible donors on our behalf, network, connect us to new people, and grow our email list. We are looking to gain corporate partners as well as individual donors.
We would love someone with experience in this arena to volunteer with us for a few months as we look for a full-time hire. In return for your help, we would love to host you down in Managua for 1-2 weeks. This will help you understand our organization and hopefully inspire you to help fight for these women! The rest of the time, the work can be done remotely.
Great for people with fundraising skills! Interested but not the right length? Like this organization and have an idea how your skills can help? Message us at: firstname.lastname@example.org
We will grow our brand recognition, our database, and our resources in order to expand our reach and continue the work we are doing!

We Provide These Local Benefits
We own a house in Managua that is very nice. It has two bedrooms and a large separate space used for offices for our staff. The neighborhood is safe and there is even a private pool out back! Depending on how long you would like to stay, we can offer you a nice bedroom in the house, or put you up in a nearby hotel that we trust. Both options have modern amenities like air conditioning.
While micro-financing has become a popular strategy to fighting poverty and promoting economic development for the poor, micro-franchising is relatively unique. We always say, "if it were easy, everyone would be doing it." We have learned a TON trying to create this new model and are excited to share it with others. We will happily share with our disappointments, obstacles, and lessons, should you have any interest!
We can provide a translator/tour guide for some of your time with us down in Nicaragua. The house you can stay at is very nice and has a pool in the back. Should you want to explore more of the country during your stay, we can help make arrangements for you to do so. We do have a cook in the house that can provide some meals for you, like breakfast. You will be able to join our Nicaraguan staff as they train new store operators, go on store visits, prepare the inventory, and other daily tasks.
This opportunity accepts applications for virtual experteers.
