Ignite the spark, tell our story
Support Economic Empowerment in Kindia, Guinea
PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND IMPACT
When you think about West Africa, I bet you do not think about the incredible entrepreneurs who are using business to change their communities. Stories shape minds and touch hearts. We need to do a better job of telling our story. And by "our story" I mean the story of the our 200 fellows and the 28 businesses that they have launched. We are looking for a visual artist and storyteller who can document the work of these changemakers through pictures and film. If we succeed we will change the narrative of West Africa and use the story of our entrepreneurs to mobilize more resources for their region. We will start with documenting our work in Guinea, but would also love to bring the expert to Benin to document work there as well.
The desired deliverables are:
1) Headshots and images of the entrepreneurs at work
2) A short promotional video that highlights the journey of on of our fellows.
3) Short film profiles of 5-7 entrepreneurs
We hope to transform this media into resources for our entrepreneurs. We hope that we can attract peer-to-peer investment for our entrepreneurs and resources to expand our impact.
We Provide These Local Benefits
Our team is headquartered in Kindia, Guinea so planning would happen from Kindia. We can provide an improved hut or apartment in Kindia. Guinea is what we like to call a "not-yet-emerging" economy so we would like to point out that electricity is intermittent and there is not running water. When the expert travels for interviews, they will likely be placed in a homestay with the entrepreneur they are documenting. Guineans are the most hospitable people I have ever met and staying with Guinean families will be an unforgettable experience.
We are innovators and entrepreneurs who embed human-centered design into everything that we do. They will have the opportunity to learn our processes and see the actual results of social-impact-innovation.
It is also an experience to learn to work in under-developed countries, off-the-grid, and in multiple languages.
We provide a chance to see a part of Africa that tourists never see and to be part of a movement to end youth unemployment. Our entrepreneurs and staff will treat you like family, showing you the parts of their country that they are most proud of and welcoming you into their homes. We promise that you will fall in love with Guinea.
