Project Details


Description and Impact

In collaboration with Moroto District Education Office, build capacity of local government and schools to create an inclusive education environment where children, especially girls, can attend, stay in school longer and receive quality education.

Deliverables

Overall placement objective/indicator:

  • Children, especially girls, in Moroto District in Karamoja region have access to a supportive, inclusive learning environment, leading to increased attendance and completion rates

Specific performance indicators:

  • Existence of Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic and Time-bound (SMART) district Education operational plan – based on standard national planning templates that is inclusive and being used as a guide for delivering district education programmes
  • Strengthened knowledge and skills of district and Sub-county education practitioners through training, mentorship in inclusive education areas ( e.g. strengthened skills of Senior Women & Men teachers in teaching and supporting girls and boys and other children with special needs in schools and at home)
  • The existence of a clear support supervision mechanism for school improvements in areas planned/project achievement areas and activities developed in the District Education operational plan ( e.g. development/adoption of activity and data collection tools for monitoring, defining support supervision schedules, data collection and reporting timelines etc.)
  • Documented handbook of good practices to be presented to the stakeholders at the end of the project.

Skills, qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education, Gender, Inclusive Education, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the field of gender and inclusive education at national or international level
  • Knowledge and understanding of gender and inclusive education in the Ugandan context
  • Facilitation, training and mentoring skills
  • Basic computing skills
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills 
  • Excellent planning, organizational and management skills
  • Ability to interact skilfully with diverse groups of people 
  • Well-developed drive for results competencies
